Privacy Policy

Typerite is a private writing app. We built it to help you write every day. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what choices you have.
Who we are
Typerite is operated by Ronit Chidara, based in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. For privacy inquiries, contact [email protected].
What we collect
- Account info (name and email address) so you can sign in and recover your account.
- Your writing (the text you save as entries) is end-to-end encrypted before leaving your device. We store only ciphertext on our servers — we cannot read your entries. Your encryption key is stored in your iCloud Keychain, never on our servers. Your writing is never used for advertising, AI training, or shared with third parties.
- Writing metadata (word counts, entry dates, streak data, restoration status) is stored securely on our servers so the app can track your progress and sync across devices.
- Preferences (like reminder settings, theme, font, and timezone) so the app behaves the way you expect.
- Purchase status (membership type, expiration date) so we can unlock paid access and manage your subscription.
How we collect it
- Name and email are collected when you create an account or sign in with Apple.
- Writing and metadata are saved automatically as you type and when you complete entries.
- Preferences are saved when you adjust settings in the app.
- Purchase data is collected through RevenueCat when you subscribe (see Third-Party Services below).
How we use it
- Name and email are used for account identification, authentication, and recovery.
- Writing and metadata are used to display your entries, calculate streaks, and sync across devices.
- Preferences are used to customize your experience (notifications, appearance).
- Purchase data is used to verify your membership status and enable premium features.
Third-party services
We use the following service providers to operate Typerite:
- Railway (United States) for cloud hosting and server infrastructure
- Neon (United States) for database services
- Resend (United States) for transactional email delivery (account recovery)
- RevenueCat (United States) for subscription and payment management
- Apple for Sign in with Apple authentication and App Store payments
RevenueCat collects transaction IDs, purchase receipts, subscription status, device identifiers (for validation only), and a pseudonymous app user ID. RevenueCat does not use your data for advertising, does not track you across other apps, and does not sell your information. You can review their privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
We do not share your writing, email, or personal data with any other third parties.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal data.
- We don't use your writing to train AI models.
- We don't show ads based on your writing.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't access or read your clipboard.
Security
Your writing is end-to-end encrypted. Entries are encrypted on your device before transmission and stored as ciphertext on our servers. We cannot decrypt or read your writing — only you can, using your encryption key stored in iCloud Keychain.
All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Account metadata is stored in a secure database with access restricted to essential app functions. Operational logs are retained for limited periods by our infrastructure providers.
Data breach notification
If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users by email and, where required by law, notify relevant authorities within 72 hours.
Data retention and deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data (email, writing entries, preferences, streak history) is permanently removed from our servers immediately.
For unpaid accounts: If you use Typerite but do not subscribe, we retain your writing for 90 days after your first writing day. After 90 days, your entries are permanently deleted. This is part of our commitment to data minimization and privacy. If you subscribe at any point, your data is retained normally.
For paid accounts: If your membership becomes inactive and you do not renew, we retain your writing for 90 days. After 90 days, your entries are permanently deleted. Your account remains unless you choose to delete it.
Restart: If you choose to restart your practice period, your previous entries are deleted immediately to give you a fresh start. You can export your pages before restarting.
Purchase records may be retained by RevenueCat for legal and operational purposes as outlined in their privacy policy.
Your choices
- Export: you can export all your writing from the app at any time (Settings → Export all data).
- Delete: you can delete your account and all associated data from the app (Settings → Delete account & all data). This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
